For the past 30 years, Metis Associates has partnered with city, countywide, suburban, and
rural school districts to support educational equity and voluntary school integration efforts.
A pillar of this work has been assisting local educational agencies in securing funding from the
U.S. Department of Education’s Magnet Schools Assistance Program. Our expertise includes
designing innovative, theme-based elementary, middle, and high school magnet programs,
developing voluntary desegregation and student assignment plans, and grant writing. We also
provide evaluation services for these programs, which feature data-supported continuous
program improvement and outcome studies.
In addition, our research team designs and conducts reviews of magnet and specialized school
choice programs. These projects examine policies and practices related to equitable student
access, program quality, and capacity building.
